Deji Adeleke, a prominent businessman and father of Nigerian musician Davido, recently stated that his company contributes significantly to Nigeria’s power supply, generating an estimated 15% of the nation’s electricity. He declared this at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church’s General Conference Annual Council 2024, held on October 15th.

I’m in the electricity business; I own power plants. I generate about 15 per cent of Nigeria’s electricity,” Adeleke disclosed, emphasising his investment in sustainable energy infrastructure.
“I have Chinese engineering companies that work for me. I am building the biggest thermal power plant in Nigeria to be launched in January 2025. It’s a 1250MW power plant,” he added, underlining his commitment to bolstering Nigeria’s energy sector.
With this ambitious energy project set for completion in early 2025, Adeleke’s venture could mark a significant shift in Nigeria’s power generation capacity.
