APC’s Fear of Defeat in 2026 Fuels Baseless Accusations Against Gov. Adeleke’s Chief of Staff

Our attention has been drawn to the recent unwarranted and baseless attacks on Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, Chief of Staff to Governor Ademola Adeleke, by the garrulous APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, and the Osun State APC. It is indeed regrettable that individuals, who have shown little regard for peace and progress, are resorting to petty and unprovoked attacks on a man who has consistently demonstrated leadership, integrity, and a deep commitment to the well-being of the people of Osun.
It is sardonic that the Osun APC continues to grapple with lingering bitterness over their loss in the 2022 gubernatorial election, which marked a significant shift in the state’s political landscape. Despite the obvious rejection of the APC by Osun people, the party’s rhetoric and actions often reflect a reluctance to fully accept the outcome.
Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye is a man of God, peace, goodwill and a grassroots politician with an unblemished pedigree. His track record of serving the people of Osun with humility, respect, and dedication speaks volumes. He is a peace-loving individual who believes in the principles of democracy, dialogue, and mutual respect. The disparaging remarks and accusations against him are not only unfounded but are also clearly driven by the fear and desperation of a party that has been rejected by the good people of Osun.
The truth is that the APC in Osun has lost touch with the people, and their attempts to discredit Governor Adeleke’s administration are nothing more than a futile effort to grab the power they no longer deserve. The people of Osun have spoken decisively, choosing the path of progress, peace, and development under Governor Adeleke’s leadership.
It is laughable that Basiru -a sore loser and forgotten politician- and the Osun APC would seek to accuse Alhaji Akinleye of threatening people, especially when it is their own party that has historically been known for using intimidation, coercion, and violence to further its political agenda. The people of Osun are no longer bothered by the antics of the APC; they are enjoying the dividends of good governance, which has brought unprecedented development to the nooks and crannies of the state.
Let us remind Basiru and his co-travellers and their miserable followers that the people of Osun are not fools. They know who has their best interests at heart, and they have overwhelmingly rejected the APC. The people are no longer interested in the lies, threats, and empty promises that the APC has been peddling for years.
As the 2026 election approaches, it is clear that the APC is fearful of the inevitable outcome. Their baseless attacks on Alhaji Akinleye are nothing more than the desperate barks of a party on the brink of irrelevance. The people of Osun are reaping the rewards of Governor Adeleke’s leadership, and no amount of noise or falsehoods from the APC can alter that.
We call on the people of Osun to continue supporting Governor Adeleke and his administration, as they have done since his inauguration. The future of Osun is bright, and with Alhaji Akinleye by Governor Adeleke’s side, the state will continue to thrive in peace, prosperity, and progress.
Let Suraju continue to fight for the relevance he’ll never get, while the people of Osun remain focused on the work being done and the progress being made. The fear of the 2026 election is what makes them lash out, but the truth remains: Osun has moved on, and the people will continue to reject any attempt to derail the progress we are currently enjoying.
