Gov. Seyi Makinde Sack Hundred’s Staffs of BCOS

The Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo Stat has told its freelance journalists, and other contract staff members that their employment with the organization terminates on January 31st, 2024 on the instruction of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
Adewale Tijani made this known today on behalf of the Chairman, Dotun Olaitan, in a press release “Retrenchment of All Freelance Artiates And Contract Staff” today 29th December, 2023.
Reason for the termination of employment of the contract staff in a hard time like this remains unknown as at the time of this report.
A source in BCOS who does not want name in print confirmed the development this afternoon. The source urged Governor Seyi Makinde to intervene and resolve concerns over their labour status, which has remained temporary for more than ten years, pointing out that a lot has been going on internally with reference to their welfare and compensation.
The source further stated that under previous administrations, contract employees had worked for BCOS on a temporary basis for many years without being regularised into permanent employment.
The source responded, “No duration of employment was stated just that they will communicate to us if there would be termination of appointment, which I think has not happened in a very long while,” when asked if the employment letter given to the contract personnel had an expiration date.
According to the release, the contract staff whose employment terminates on January 31st, 2024 and still interested in the service of BCOS are expected to re-apply on or before February 7, 2024.
“All contract staff and freelance artistes in the service of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State are hereby, informed that their employment will expire by the 31st of January, 2024.
“All contract staff and freelance Artistes who are interested in renewing their appointment should re-apply on or before 7th February, 2024.”
