Governor Adeleke Extends Tenure of Head of Service

Governor Ademola Adeleke has extended the tenure of the Head of Service, Elder Samuel Ayanleye Aina till 2026 to deepen and conclude ongoing reform and revitalization of the civil service.
The approval which was convened to the Head of service via a letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor cited constitutional powers conferred on the Governor with respect to the appointments of top civil service officials.
The State Governor acknowledged the commitment of Elder Aina to efficient public service and productivity, appreciating his successful implementation of various public sector reforms after governorship approvals.
The Governor further directed top officials of the service to continue to maintain strong discipline and teamwork for seamless implementation of the administration’s five point agenda.

A very wrong step the Governor took. He doesn’t have to ride on the bad precedence his predecessor set in ascendancy to the position. It’s gross abuse of the Civil Service Rule. The government gave a flimsy excuse of the civil service reform taking place in the State,the question to ask is the man indispensable or is their no others qualify or capable of occupying the seat? The answer to that is capital NO! It is gross, pure impunity of the governor because there are others in wait for the position and consequently a multiplier effect on the ascendancy/ promotion of other officers. Also, on the issue of indispensability, what if the man drops dead now,though he is not wished death but a critical angle to look at the issue.
It’s a suicide action the governor is taking against the workers that supported his ascendancy to the Office of a Governor, if he still needs the Osun workers’ support for 2nd term, he should revisit the idea.
With these few points of mine, the governor should revise his decision.
