President Bola Tinubu has announced the postponement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, originally scheduled for today, to a later date, which will be communicated in the near future.
This decision was made in response to the passing of Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, who tragically died on Tuesday night, November 5, 2024.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, shared the details, emphasizing that the meeting would not take place as planned in respect of General Lagbaja, who served as the Chief of Army Staff from June 19, 2023, until his untimely passing. The statement further noted that the meeting would be rescheduled at a later time, and the new date would be communicated when appropriate.
The passing of Lt. Gen. Lagbaja has deeply affected the nation, particularly the military community, where he was regarded as a dedicated and committed officer. To honor his service and memory, President Tinubu also ordered that flags be flown at half-mast nationwide for a period of seven days.
