More tension as BCOS Staff demands the whereabouts of ₦1million Gov. Makinde largesse

As the imminent sacking through the back door, in the name of reapplication, of a large proportion of BCOS contract and freelance staff draws near, more tension has been added into the fray.

Since the letter asking them to reapply for their job, not less than a dozen talented staffs have resigned their appointments in frustration and anger with the unsettling news that many more will follow before the deadline date.

According to members of staff, among those prominent household names that have left the corporation out of frustration are Ademola Aremu, popularly called Papa Demmy, who has been in the corporation for about 30 years; the rare and unique baritone voiceover artist and co-presenter on the BCOS daily early morning programme AM120, Deji Owotumi; famous sport presenter, Boluwaji Ogunmola who has flown the BCOS flag many times on international pedestal; Yoruba newscaster with a captivating sense of difference, Adegorioye Ariyo, whose salary was cut twice since the new BCOS administration came to being but has moved on to securing a new job as assistant General Manager at Dynasty FM, Oyo; sensational Yoruba presenter and newscaster, Eyitayo Olusola; producer, newscaster and accomplished researcher, Segun Oyebode, who has dedicated his 22 years of service to the corporation; another AM120 co-presenter with a wealth of knowledge on current affairs, Ayodeji Ajisope; one of the most dedicated Cameramen in the corporation, Sodiq Hammed among others, with many more still expecting to tow the lane in the coming days.

At the time of this report, questions are being asked by low cadres at the corporation as to the whereabouts of the one million naira personally given to the staff by Governor Seyi Makinde when he visited the station for a live program on December 23rd, 2023.

The complaint is that while the BCOS chairperson pocketed 500 thousand naira of the money, she shared 20,000 naira for each of the Directors in the corporation.

As much as the whereabouts of the remaining 300 thousand naira could not be ascertained, non of the low cadre staffs was given the share of their governor’s personal generosity.
