Osun Assembly Makes Case For Simplified Land Survey Payments
The Osun State House of Assembly has urged the Office of the Surveyor-General to simplify the system of payment for land surveying in the state.
Chairman, House Committee on Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Hon. Lawrence Olalekan Adeoti made this known on Thursday at the media meeting with officials of Surveyor-General Office and surveyors officers across the local government in the state.
While noting that there should be need to work in synergy for betterment of the state, the lawmaker advised surveyors in the state to charge the same fee on survey in both Rural and Urban centres across the state in order to curb inadequacy.
According to him: “There should be difference in fare charges on survey in both Rural and Urban centers across the State.”
“Try to simplify payment of surveying for the benefit of our people in the State,” Hon. Adeoti added.
He advised to have two surveyors per local government to enhance the work of surveyors across the state.
Hon. Adeoti also charged the Surveyor-General to organise seminars and sensitization for staff to improve their skills.
He charged the officials to improve on internally generated revenue to boost economic prosperity of the state, while urging them to synergise and make the state greater.
In their various contributions, other members of the committee advised on the need to curb the activities of fake surveyors in the state.
They wanted Surveyor General to work more on local government boundaries across the State.
They charged the officials to generate revenue through the survey and Certificate of Occupancy to government coffers.
In his response, The Osun State Surveyor-General, Surveyor Solagboye Ayodele confirmed that his office is to provide survey for the Local Government and the state.
He hinted that his office is mandated to advise government on boundary matters and to intervene between Private and Government Surveyors across the state.
“We are to supervise any survey matters across the State”. and to maintain mutual relationship between Private and Government Surveyors Practitioners.”
He lamented on declined of Surveyors especially outgoing staff without replacement.
The Surveyor-General also shed light on importance of Survey Record Copy and uncare attitude of people to get Certificate of Occupancy (c of o).
He, however, used the opportunity to highlight the challenges facing the survey activities in the state while calling for the assembly support.
