Osun Govt Pledges Support as EduMarshal Holds Awareness Campaign Tagged “School Drive Walk”

The Osun state government, led by Governor Addemola Adeleke, has committed its support to significantly reduce the out-of-school menace within the state. This commitment was affirmed during the EduMarshals’ School Drive Walk in the State Capital on Thursday. The campaign aimed to enlighten parents and guardians about the importance of getting all school-aged children off the streets and encouraging their attendance in line with Governor Ademola Adeleke’s free and compulsory education policy.
Alhaji Aminu, the Director of Schools in the Ministry of Education, conveyed the government’s appreciation for EduMarshals’ efforts in driving Governor Adeleke’s initiative to decrease the number of out-of-school children. Despite challenges, he urged the officers to remain resolute in fulfilling their responsibilities.
Otunba Tunde Badmus, an Aide of the Governor, affirmed the administration’s commitment to promoting child education and commended the officers for their dedication. He assured them of continuous government support in tackling the issue of out-of-school children.
Mr. Otun Alabi Mayowa, the coordinator of the group and regional manager of EduMarshals in the Southwest, emphasized their core mandate to address the out-of-school menace. The School Drive Walk served to convey the government’s stance against school-age children hawking or loitering during school hours. Mr. Mayowa expressed gratitude for the positive reception of the government’s message during the campaign.
He reiterated the Governor’s efforts in controlling the out-of-school menace and acknowledged the support given to the agency and its officers. While appreciating their adhoc worker status, he highlighted the need for a review of monthly stipends and the engagement of more field workers for broader coverage. Mr. Mayowa concluded with optimism for the quick implementation of proposed changes in the 2024 budgetary allocation.
