Tinubu gives fresh appointments to ex-Katsina governor Aminu Masari and 33 others
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given fresh appointments to former Katsina governor Aminu Masari and 33 others.
The appointments were confirmed in different statements issued by Ajuri Ngelale, the president’s spokesperson on Tuesday evening, August 6, 2024.
One of the statements said ex-Kastina State Governor, Aminu Masari was appointed as the new Chairman, Board of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
He was appointed alongside six others as members of the board.
They are Senator Sani Danladi, Sunday Adepoju, Nurudeen Adeyemi, Esther Onyinyechukwu Ukachukwu, Turaki Ibrahim and Aboh Eduyok.
“The President expects the new members of the board of this pivotal institutional vehicle to be dedicated and committed to driving TETFund’s objective of providing the needed support for tertiary education with a view to enhancing the productivity and quality of higher education,” the statement read.
Similarly, the President approved the appointment of seven persons to head strategic agencies and programmes under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
The appointments include Chief Executive Officers for the National Social Investment Programme Agency, Badamasi Lawal, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Lami Bello, Programme Manager, National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office, Funmilola Olotu.
Others are Programme Manager, Grant for Vulnerable Groups, Aishat Alubankudi, Programme Manager, Home Grown School Feeding, Aderemi Adebowale, Programme Manager, National Cash Transfer Office, Abdullahi Imam and Executive Secretary, National Commission for People with Disabilities, Ayuba Gufwan.
The president tasked the new appointees to “facilitate the needed relief to Nigerians and ensure the effectiveness of humanitarian and social development programs.”
This comes after the suspension of Dr. Betta Edu as minister eight months ago over the scandal surrounding the transfer of N585.189 million to a private account.
Edu’s suspension came after Halima Shehu was also suspended as the National Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency over the alleged misappropriation of N40 billion.
In another statement, the President approved the appointment of 21 federal commissioners for the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
Their appointments are subject to confirmation by the senate, the statement said.
The new federal commissioners are Linda Nkechi Oti (Abia), Akpan Imo Effiong (Akwa Ibom), Enefe Ekene (Anambra), Steve Ugba (Benue), Chief Eyonsa (Cross-River), Aruviere Egharhevwe (Delta), Nduka Henry Awuregu (Ebonyi), Victor Eboigbe (Edo), Wumi Ogunlola (Ekiti), and Ozo Obumreme Obodougo (Enugu).
Also appointed are Kabir Ibrahim Mashi (Katsina), Adamu Fanda (Kano), Kunle Wright (Lagos), Aliyu Almakura Abdulkadir (Nasarawa), Bako Shetima (Niger), Samuel Durojaye (Ogun), Nathaniel Adejutelegan (Ondo), Saad Bello Ibrahim (Plateau), Modu-Aji Juluri (Yobe), Bello Rabiu Garba (Zamfara), and Mohammed Kabeer Usman (Gombe).
Ngelale said Tinubu expects the new federal commissioners to demonstrate absolute fidelity to the nation in the discharge of their duties.
