In a bid to uplift communities and empower individuals, the Imole-Bibire Empowerment Training, sponsored by the indefatigable Secretary to the Osun State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, has concluded a transformative initiative across 15 wards in Osogbo Local Government. This comprehensive program, culminating on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, at Osogbo West LCDA, Oke-Arungbo, Osogbo, has left a lasting impact on countless residents.
The cornerstone of the program was a series of skill-building workshops focusing on makeup artistry, gele making for beginners, manicure, and pedicure. These sessions equipped participants not only with practical skills but also with the confidence to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors in the beauty industry.
The grand finale of the training will see participants being awarded essential equipment and certificates, marking the beginning of their journeys as skilled professionals. This will not only create avenues for self-employment but also bolster the local economy by fostering small-scale businesses.
Beyond skill acquisition, the program addressed crucial community needs through various developmental projects. Over 45 POS machines, coupled with startup capital, will be distributed to facilitate easier financial transactions and bolster local commerce. Additionally, the installation of hand pump and motorized boreholes in wards 10 and 8 respectively promises improved access to clean water, addressing a fundamental necessity for residents.
Financial empowerment is also a key focus, with cooperative grants exceeding 15 million naira set to be disbursed across Osogbo Local Government. This injection of funds aims to stimulate entrepreneurial activities and enhance economic resilience within the community.
Furthermore, the program underscores a commitment to health and well-being with the ultimate plan to enroll 500 aged individuals in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme. This will ensure access to essential healthcare services, promoting a healthier populace and reducing medical burdens on families.
Interestingly, the initiative encouraged inclusivity with the involvement of individuals who are deaf and mute. This exemplifies the inclusive and empowering nature of modern initiatives. By providing accessible learning opportunities and overcoming communication barriers, this training not only enhanced their skills but also fosters a supportive environment where diversity is celebrated. It highlights the importance of inclusivity in skill acquisition, where all individuals, regardless of their abilities, are given equal opportunities to learn and grow. It does not only empower the participants themselves but also contribute positively to the community by promoting understanding and breaking down societal barriers.
Hon. Teslim Igbalaye emphasized that the ultimate goal of the Imole-Bibire Empowerment Training is to foster sustainable change. By equipping individuals with skills, resources, and opportunities, the program not only transforms lives but also enriches the fabric of the entire community. Participants are now poised to contribute actively to Osogbo’s growth, embodying the spirit of empowerment that defines the initiative.
As the sun sets on this phase of the Imole-Bibire empowerment journey, the impact reverberates through Osogbo Local Government, leaving a legacy of empowerment, opportunity, and hope for a brighter future.
