OSUN 2026: Why is Osun APC fixated?

Democracy, as defined by Abraham Lincoln, is government of the people, by the people, and for the people. This ideal is precisely what Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration has exemplified in Osun State, much to the dismay of the main opposition – the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Since assuming office, Governor Adeleke has demonstrated a firm commitment to good governance, transparency, and people-focused policies. His performance within a short span has drawn widespread commendation, especially when compared to the APC’s 12-year tenure, which many citizens recall as a period marked by financial mismanagement, infrastructural decay, and neglect of civil servants’ welfare.
Governor Adeleke’s administration has prioritized prompt salary and pension payments, massive investment in public infrastructure, revival of abandoned projects, and significant strides in health, education, and digital economy. These initiatives have not only restored public confidence in governance but have also elevated the standard of living for many Osun residents.
Naturally, such rapid and visible progress unsettles the APC, whose years in power left behind a trail of unmet promises and mounting debts. Rather than acknowledge the positive direction in which Osun is now headed, the APC appears fixated on peddling misinformation and engaging in relentless criticism, often lacking substance.
This fixation speaks volumes. It reveals a party still trapped in the trauma of electoral defeat, lacking the humility to self-assess and the discipline to reorganize. Instead of policy alternatives or developmental blueprints, we get noise – noise targeted at discrediting the sitting Governor, sowing discord, and distracting the public.
However, the people of Osun are increasingly discerning. They recognize the tangible difference between past neglect and present action. Governor Adeleke’s leadership has set a new benchmark for governance in the state — one that prioritizes the people and places their needs above political gamesmanship.
Indeed, what we are witnessing is not just a change in leadership but a transformation in the very fabric of governance in Osun – and that is the true source of the APC’s bitterness.
