Osun APC in Total Disarray as Leadership War Escalates, Members Left Abandoned and Hopeless
Fresh and credible reports emerging over the past 48 hours have confirmed that the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is embroiled in a deep and irreconcilable crisis. The once formidable opposition party has been torn apart by a bitter internal struggle for control, pitting former leaders against one another in what can only be described as a political battlefield.
According to aggrieved insiders, the root of the chaos lies in the relentless power tussle between two embattled former governors — Chief Bisi Akande and Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola — both of whom led the state for only a single term before being rejected by the people. With the conspicuous absence of the only respected APC figure, former governor Rauf Aregbesola, who was forced out of the party in disgrace, the soul of Osun APC now hangs in the balance. Without Aregbesola’s stabilizing influence, the party has descended into a war of ego, ambition, and desperation.
It is now clear that Oyetola, despite his infamous failure as governor and his disastrous outing in the 2022 election, is desperately plotting a comeback in 2026. Shockingly, he not only seeks to become the party’s candidate again but also intends to seize total control of the party structure — a move that has been met with fierce resistance from within. Many APC stakeholders have bluntly rejected him, describing him as a “seasoned failure” whose selfish leadership style and betrayal of party values drove the APC out of Osun in shame.
Meanwhile, another controversial figure, Oyebamiji — a former commissioner under Oyetola — has begun making moves for the party’s ticket. While he enjoys backing from a few disgruntled elements from Osun West, even his closest allies admit that he lacks the grassroots appeal and political weight to face the ever-popular Governor Ademola Adeleke in any electoral contest.
Also lining up for the APC ticket are a string of weak and disconnected figures — Otunba Iyiola Omisore, Senator Ajibola Basiru, Prince Dotun Babayemi, and Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi — none of whom command the support or trust of the Osun masses. In fact, the looming sack of Sen. Ajibola Basiru as APC National Secretary, due to fears that he may hijack the party structure for personal ambition, shows how fragile and divided the APC has become.
Amidst this turmoil, Governor Ademola Adeleke continues to tower above his peers as an undisputed and undefeated leader. Loved by the people and respected across Nigeria, Governor Adeleke has proven that governance is about people-first leadership, development, and integrity — values long forgotten by the APC.
Osun people are hereby called to stay vigilant. The desperation within the APC is growing by the day, and credible intelligence suggests that certain factions are willing to resort to violence and “naked power” to force themselves into relevance ahead of 2026. The Osun State Government, in collaboration with the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies, must remain alert to forestall any attempt to destabilize the peace currently being enjoyed under Governor Adeleke’s administration.
Let it be known: Osun will not go backwards. The people have tasted progress, and no recycled politician from a broken party will deceive them again.
